Job profile :
SSC JE is one of the prestigious jobs in society as it is a central govt job. Staff selection commission (SSC) recruits junior engineers for various posts under SSC JE recruitment like Central water commission, Central public works department, Military engineering services,Department of posts and other central govt job departments every year.
Apart from regular salary Junior engineers who are working under SSC will enjoy several benefits offered by the government like Dearness allowance, Medical allowance, House rent allowance, Travelling allowances and other special allowances.
Scheme of examination :
The examination will consist of two papers i.e., paper 1 (computer based examination) & paper 2 (descriptive type).
Those who clears paper 1 will be allowed to write paper 2
Syllabus for paper 1 :
Part A : General intelligence & reasoning
analogies, similarities, differences, space visualization, problem solving, analysis, judgement, decision
making, visual memory, discrimination, observation, relationship concepts, arithmetical reasoning,
verbal and figure classification, arithmetical number series etc.
Part B : General studies
History, Culture, Geography, Economic Science, General Polity and Scientific Research, Biology, Current affairs.
Part C : Technical
Basic concepts, Circuit law, Magnetic Circuit, AC Fundamentals, Measurement and Measuring
instruments, Electrical Machines, Fractional Kilowatt Motors and single phase induction Motors,
Synchronous Machines, Generation, Transmission and Distribution, Estimation and Costing,
Utilization and Electrical Energy, Basic Electronics.
Preparation strategy :
General intelligence & Reasoning is for 50M
General awareness is for 50M
Technical is for 100M
Total : 200 Marks
You need to solve 200 multiple choice questions in 120 minutes. Questions will not be very tough(medium level). If you are thorough with your basics you can solve almost all problems but you need to be very fast in problem solving.
You can get good score easily in part A and part C but as general studies is very vast subject you need to prepare well for part B and should get 25+ marks.
→ Solve previous year SSC JE question papers(SSC CGL and SSC CHSL for general studies) and 1 mark questions and theory questions from previous years GATE papers
→ Thorough with formulas and definitions
→ Write mock tests as many as possible
→ Prepare well for Part B
