Exam pattern :

There are totally 60 questions. The questions will be combination of MCQs and descriptive.

Questions will be from

  1. Core subjects
Basics & advanced Level of questions
  2. Arithmetic & Logical reasoning

Key areas :

  1. Core subjects
There are two levels of questions from core syllabus
    A. Basic questions mostly from Network Theorems, Analogue Electronics, Electrical Machinery & Power Electronics.
Eg:- Time constant of RL &RC circuit,
What type of energy will stored by inductor / capacitor,
Behavior of capacitor to DC excitation.
    B. The second level of questions will be from out of syllabus, this are from new research trends and technology based questions.
Eg:- opto-coupler is combination of ?
Which sensor used to sense motor temperature ?
  2. Aptitude & Logical reasoning
DI (5 questions), and other topics

Interview questions :

NFTDC is an autonomous Research & Development center.
Since it is an R&D

  1. The interviewer will be testing your conceptual understanding, not the mathematical equations.
  2. NFTDC is known for Center of Excellence for xEV Drives. So most of the interview questions will be from Electrical Machinery(conceptual understanding of working of all machines) and Power Electronics.
  3. Area of interest?
  4. Are you went to any GATE coaching?
  5. Questions about minor project

Since it is an R&D and core company the interview may continue up-to one hour or more. For me it was gone up-to 45 minutes. During this time they asked about Minor project (definitely they will ask to everyone), area of interest, self introduction, questions from electrical machine and power electronics. They also test your bilingual(English & Hindi) communication skills.

How to prepare :

Those who are good at basics can easily clear this exam. But during interview you have to brief the mechanism, not the mathematical equations

Internship experience :

Nonferrous Materials Technology Development Center (NFTDC), Hyderabad is an autonomous R&D centre. It is also known for Centre of Excellence (C. o. E) for xEV drives.

During my internship
Apart from my major project I’ve been trained in

  1. Arduino Programming,
  2. Printed Circuit Board (PCB) designing.
  3. Controller designing for xEVs.

(NFTDC develop projects and technologies for defense and space applications too..)

work experience :

will be updated soon !!

Salary / Stipend :

Stipend during internship is 4,000/- pm.

Other Suggestions :

They will offer you M.Tech after completion of your two years of Project Associate Engineer tenure, in NIT Warangal. Those who want to prepare for govt. exams in core sector can opt it.
